ScanLAB – Arctic Works

To say that Frozen Relic: Arctic Works by ScanLAB is pertinent is, of course, an understatement. An exhibition dedicated to various methods of documenting and visualising ice floes, it is the result of travelling across the Arctic as part of a scientific team in a Greenpeace icebreaker, and thus has a great deal to say about the rapidly diminishing polar ice caps, the catastrophic climatic effects of their disappearance and the all-too-real existential dread that accompanies thinking about the human consequences. But as well as specific and deliberate polemical content, the exhibition also manages to draw a number of fascinating aesthetic connections between different conditions of evanescence.
